The Washington Football Team claimed cornerback Ryan Lewis off waivers Thursday. Lewis was waived by the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday.
Washington will be Lewis’ seventh team since going undrafted in 2017 out of the University of Pittsburgh.
Lewis has spent time in training camp, preseason and practice squads with the Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots between 2017-2018.
He signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2018. Lewis appeared in seven games, recording 15 tackles and two forced fumbles.
Last season, he Buffalo waived him during final cuts ahead of the season. He was claimed by the Indianapolis Colts. He appeared in three games before being waived. The Philadelphia Eagles claimed him off waivers, appearing in two games before being waived again.
He landed with the Dolphins to finish out the season. Lewis appeared in eight games, finishing with 19 tackles and one interception before being placed on injured reserve.
Lewis has a good frame at 6-feet and 185 pounds. He ran an impressive 4.37 at his pro day. He has a great deal of athleticism but has failed to stick on a team throughout his pro career.
