Harrison Ingram has narrowed his recruiting down to six. The five-star small forward from Dallas, Texas named Howard, Harvard, Michigan, North Carolina, Purdue and Stanford as his final six to consider.
Ingram is ranked as the 13th player in the nation and fourth-best at small forward, according to 247 Sports composite rankings.
Howard has gained momentum as a choice for top recruits who normally wouldn’t consider a historically black college or university in the past. Given the recent social climate stemming from the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, HBCU’s have been thrust in the minds.
2020 top recruits Joshua Christopher and Makur Maker seriously considered Howard with Maker committing to the Bison. 2023 top recruit Mikey Williams, who has established a bond with Maker, has included North Carolina Central in his final considerations,
Howard’s emergence as a recruiting contender is also thanks to head coach Kenny Blakeney. The Washington, DC native and Duke alum is building relationships with recruits despite not having the same luxuries as Power 5 conferences.
Howard still has an uphill battle convincing Ingram to choose the small, MEAC conference school over the powers of North Carolina, Michigan, Purdue and Stanford.
247 Sports crystal ball prediction has Ingram going to Stanford. However, with the current social climate, HBCU’s being considered for top high school players is a new trend. Blakeney has Howard in the center of the trend.
