Kendall Fuller takes back No. 29 following Derrius Guice release

The Washington Football Team announced Sunday a jersey number update. Cornerback Kendall Fuller has taken back No. 29 while cornerback Ronald Darby has switched to No. 23, the number Fuller was assigned initially for this season.

The No. 29 became available following the release running back Derrius Guice. Fuller wore the No. 29 during his first stint with Washington in the 2017 season.

Fuller was traded in 2018 to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for quarterback Alex Smith.

Fuller went on to be a key starter for the Chiefs during their run to the Super Bowl last season. He signed a four-year, $40 million deal with Washington in March, returning to his home area team.

Guice was released by Washington on Aug. 7 after he was arrested for domestic violence-related charges.

Darby signed a one-year deal with Washington this off-season. Darby, an Oxon Hill, Maryland native, is looking to get his career back on track after a torn ACL in 2018 and hip injury in 2019 cut each of his last two seasons short.
