The Washington Football Team has named Jason Wright as team president. Wright becomes the NFL’s first Black team president in league history.
Wright will oversee the business side of the organization, including operations, finance, sales, and marketing. He spent seven seasons in the NFL as running back, playing with the 49ers, Falcons, Browns, and Cardinals.
“This team, at this time, is an ideal opportunity for me,” Wright said in a statement. “The transformation of the Washington Football Team is happening across all aspects of the organization — from football to operations to branding to culture — and will make us a truly modern and aspirational franchise. We want to set new standards for the NFL.”
Wright retired from the league in 2011. He then received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth Business School before becoming partner of a management consultant firm in Washington, DC before being hired by the Washington.
