Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera revealed he has been diagnosed with lymph node cancer, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Rivera said the cancer is in it’s early stages and is considered “very treatable and curable.”
Rivera, 58, says it will be business as usual but Washington has a “Plan B” in place. He has consulted with doctors and specialist to devise a treatment plan with the team.
“I was stunned,” Rivera said per Schefter. “But I was angry because I feel like I feel like I’m in best health I’ve been in.”

Now, he will try to have a successful first season as head coach while facing a serious life matter head on.
Rivera told Schefter he shared the news with his players Thursday as well.
