The Washington Football Team waived undrafted rookie tight end Thaddeus Moss with an injury destination. In a corresponding move, Washington signed guard Joshua Garnett and offensive tackle David Steinmetz. The team released offensive tackle Kevin Pamphile Thursday.
Moss, who is the son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss, quickly became a favorite of Washington fans given their dire situation at tight end. Yet, despite the group being considered underwhelming, Moss appeared to be a long shot to make the team’s final roster.
Marcus Baugh has emerged early on in training camp as a solid piece at tight end behind presumed starter Logan Thomas. Washington also has holdovers Jeremy Sprinkle and Hale Hentges and added veteran Richard Rodgers in the off-season.
Moss struggled through the three padded practices this week. Reps were minimal, and he was subjected to an earful from tight ends coach Pete Hoener.

With the injury designation, Moss will revert back to Washington’s injured reserved (IR) if he goes unclaimed by any other NFL team. Washington could choose to hold on to Moss to get another look at him in next year’s training camp. Or they could agree with Moss on an injury settlement, making him a free agent.
