Washington signs WR Shelton Gibson to practice squad

The Washington Football has signed wide receiver Shelton Gibson to their practice squad. The team also added cornerback Cole Luke and offensive tackle David Steinmetz which both were previously reported.

Gibson was a fifth-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017 out of West Virginia. He appeared in 20 games for the Eagles in two seasons, catching three passes for 59 yards. He was waived by the Eagles before the 2019 season.

Gibson spent 2019 on the Cleveland Browns practice squad before the Eagles signed him to their active roster ahead of their wild card playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks.

He spent the virtual offseason with Philadelphia before he was waived in July ahead of training camp.

Gibson has great speed and is considered a deep-threat receiver. He was clocked with a 4.39 40-time during his pro day.

Washington now has 16 players signed to their practice squad. Washington is allowed to sign 17 players as defensive tackle David Bada is part of the International Pathway Program and does not count towards Washington’s practice squad limit.
