Washington promotes WR Cam Sims from practice squad

The Washington Football Team promoted wide receiver Cam Sims from the practice squad to their active roster for Sunday’s season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to new CBA rules, each NFL team is allowed to promote one or two players from the practice squad without terminating the contract of the player or a corresponding transaction. Sims will return back to the practice squad following the game without going through waivers.

Each practice squad player is limited to two elevations during the season.

Sims’ promotion gives Washington 54 active players. Washington will now have to make six players inactive for Sunday. They already will be without linebacker Thomas Davis with a calf injury. Cornerback Kendall Fuller is listed as doubtful.

Sims is entering his third season with Washington. He has appeared in eight games and recorded two catches for 27 yards in his career.
