Dwayne Haskins delivered halftime speech to fire up Washington’s comeback

The Washington Football Team trailed at halftime 17-7 to the Philadelphia Eagles after falling behind 17-0. While head coach Ron Rivera was getting a planned IV, quarterback Dwayne Haskins delivered a speech at halftime that fired up the team.

Cornerback Fabian Moreau, who had an interception in the first half, said Haskins stepped up like a leader and “put everyone on his back.”

Washington scored 20 of its 27 unanswered points in the second half. The defensive line led the charge sacking Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz eight times. The defense forced three turnovers.

Haskins protected the football the most part and Peyton Barber scored two touchdowns in the second half as Washington rallied to a 27-17 win over their NFC East rivals.

The halftime speech is just another example of Haskins becoming the leader in his second season. In the time of need with Rivera getting an IV, Haskins seized the opportunity to rally his team and show his ability to take charge of a situation.

For that Washington showed resilience to start the season off with a victory.
