Despite the Week 1 win, wide receiver remains a position of need for the Washington Football Team. Inexperience and a lack of depth at the position is Washington’s “biggest concern,” according to head coach Ron Rivera.
Washington’s wide receiver room led by second-year pros Terry McLaurin and Steven Sims Jr. Journeyman Dontrelle Inman is the most experienced of the group is entering his seventh season in the league. Rookies Antonio Gandy-Golden and Isaiah Wright round out the wideouts on the active roster.
Rivera emphasized the the five wide receivers on their active roster have a combined eight years of experience in the NFL. Due to the lack of experience, Washington will keep looking for options to improve their depth.
Washington worked out five wide receivers, including former Arizona Cardinals draft pick Hakeem Butler this week. With the free agent market being thin, adding a long-term development option on the practice squad may be Washington’s current focus.
