Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera plans to be on the sideline coaching his team Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. Rivera had a difficult week of chemotherapy treatment for skin cancer.
Rivera missed Wednesday’s practice due to treatment. He returned to Thursday’s practice, but left early, as he wasn’t feeling well.
His challenges have been evident trying to coach in his first year with Washington while battling cancer. He has been forced to make adjustments in his daily routine. Rivera says the inability to be active during practice and meetings have been “tough” and “disappointing.”
He plans to receive an IV either before, during or after the game Sunday to stay hydrated. He received an IV at halftime in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Just as he did this week in practice, defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio is “prepared” to fill in for Rivera, in the event of his absence.
