The Washington Football Team has placed running back Bryce Love on injured reserve with a swollen knee.
Head coach Ron Rivera said the IR placement is not season ending. Love would have to stay on IR for a minimum of three weeks. The earliest he is eligible to return is ahead Week 7’s home game against the Dallas Cowboys, according to Sam Fortier of the Washington Post.
Love has yet to be active this season being placed behind rookie Antonio Gibson, JD McKissic and Peyton Barber on the depth chart.
Love tore his ACL in his final college game while at Stanford in December 2018. Washington selected him in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The injury caused him to miss his rookie season.
In October, he underwent an additional knee surgery as he rehabbed for much of the year. He returned to the practice field this summer for training camp, making the initial 53-man roster. Washington listed him fourth on the depth chart, allowing him more time to progress to 100 percent health.
However, the swollen knee is a setback in Love’s hopes of returning to the playing field this season.
