Kyle Allen’s first practice as the Washington Football Team’s starting quarterback was without the team’s three top wide receivers. Terry McLaurin, Dontrelle Inman and Steven Sims Jr. all missed practice Wednesday with injuries.
McLaurin is still hampered by a thigh injury that forced him to miss practices last week. Despite the injury he played last week against the Baltimore Ravens, catching 10 passes for 118 yards.
Sims continues to deal with a toe injury that limited him in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns and forced him out of last week’s game against the Ravens. It’s unclear the severity of the injury.
Inman dealt with an elbow injury last week, but this week it’s a foot. He was seen limping around during the media portion of Wednesday’s practice.
Washington made a quarterback change today, as Dwayne Haskins was benched in favor of Allen. But focus must shift to the availability of his receivers leading into Sunday’s Week 5 game against the Los Angeles Rams.
In other notable injuries, Chase Young (groin) did not practice. He was injured in Week 3 against the Browns and did not play against the Ravens. Head coach Ron Rivera previously revealed Young was “day-to-day.”
Wes Schweitzer missed practice with an elbow injury. He started last week at right guard in place of the injured Brandon Scherff. Rookie Keith Ismael took on first-team reps Wednesday at right guard.
