Dwayne Haskins will not attend game vs. Rams

The saga of Dwayne Haskins and the Washington Football Team has taken a bit of twist. After being emoted this week from starter to third on the depth chart, Haskins will not be at FedEx Field Sunday when Washington faces the Los Angeles Rams.

Haskins, who was going to be inactive as the No. 3 quarterback, has a stomach virus and was advised by team doctors to stay home. According to WUSA-9 sports director Darren Haynes, the illness is unrelated to COVID-19.

While this is an illness-related absence, Haskins’ time with Washington may be coming to an end soon. According to a CBS Sports report, the anticipation is the 23-year old QB will be traded by the Oct. 29 trade deadline.

Haskins struggled as starter for the first four games. His struggles on the field, poor preparation and practice habits combined with Washington being just one-half game out of first place in the winnable NFC East led to his benching.

Kyle Allen will start at quarterback Sunday for Washington, but the team is reportedly hopeful that veteran Alex Smith will take over as starter in the coming weeks.
