Washington releases TE Marcus Baugh, signs TE Temmarick Hemingway from practice squad

The Washington Football Team has signed tight end Temarrick Hemingway from the practice squad to their 53-man active roster, the team announced. In a corresponding move, Washington has released tight end Marcus Baugh.

Baugh was a training camp surprise, making the initial 53-man roster. He played 27 offensive snaps in Week 1. However, his snaps decreased week-by-week, dwindling to nine in Week 4. He missed Week 5’s game against the Los Angeles Rams due to a death in his family. He was inactive last week against the Giants despite returning to the team.

Hemingway was a practice squad add in Week 2. He was elevated in each of the last two games in place of Baugh, playing 15 snaps total with one catch for 10 yards.

Washington also made the expected signing of wide receiver Robert Foster official. Foster was signed off the Green Bay Packers practice squad. He spent two seasons with the Buffalo Bills, emerging with 27 catches, 541 yards and three touchdowns as an undrafted rookie in 2018.

Washington will be allowed to carry 54 players on their active roster, as Foster undergoes the mandated six days of pre-entry COVID-19 testing.
