Terry McLaurin unanimously named Washington team captain

Washington Football Team wide receiver Terry McLaurin was unanimously voted a team captain. Washington had a captain vacancy with safety Landon Collins being out for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury.

McLaurin has quickly become a fan favorite after being a third-round pick of Washington’s in 2019. Last year he immediately emerged as the team’s top wide receiver as a rookie. In his second year this season, he is making an imprint as one of the best receivers in the league.

“Nothing changes for me, who i am as a person or how i act going forward,” McLaurin said, per ESPN’s John Keim. “While it’s a great honor I feel like the thing that helped me get this honor was coming to work every day.”

McLaurin gave a glimpse to his leadership in an fiery post-game speech following Washington’s Week 7 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Usually quiet, McLaurin leads by example. Through 21 career games, he has 101 catches for 1,496 yards and nine touchdowns.
