Washington activates WR Steven Sims off IR

The Washington Football Team will get a huge piece back for their passing game. Wide receiver Steven Sims has been activated off injured reserve and will play Sunday against the New York Giants. The team announced Saturday.

Sims missed the last four games and was placed on IR with a toe injury.

Washington hopes getting the speedy pass catcher back will alleviate some pressure on star wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

Sims entered the season with expectations of being the No. 2 receiving option behind McLaurin. He asserted himself as that through the first two games of the season, catching six passes for 103 yards. However the toe injury limited him to just punt returns in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns before the team ultimately chose to sit him on IR to heal.

His return also gives Washington another viable option returning kickoffs and punts. He headed the depth chart in both areas before his injury. Yet, his biggest impact will be as a receiver. The timing of his return is huge as Dontrelle Inman is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury.

In a corresponding move, Washington is waiving defensive end Nate Orchard. The team also announced wide receiver Jeff Badet and center Ross Pierschbacher have been elevated from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Giants.
