The Dallas Cowboys were on their own 24-yard line and inexplicably went for a fake punt down 20-16 two minutes into the fourth quarter. The Washington Football Team special teams sniffed the play out from the start stuffing Cedric Wilson’s failed end-around.
Washington took over on down at the Cowboys 23-yard line. One play later, rookie running back Antonio Gibson rolled untouched to the end zone for the second of his three rushing touchdowns in the game. Washington extended their lead to 27-16.
The failed fake punt started a snowfall for the Cowboys, as Washington tacked on two more touchdowns, including a Montez Sweat pick-six to take a commanding 41-16 lead.
