Maryland-James Madison Men’s game canceled due to COVID-19

Saturday’s men’s basketball game between Maryland and James Madison has been canceled following a positive COVID-19 test within James Madison’s program, the Harrisonburg, Virginia school announced Friday.

The Dukes paused team activity after confirmation of the positive test. Further testing and consultation is ongoing to determine the status of James Madison’s upcoming games against Old Dominion (Dec. 7) and Coppin State (Dec. 10).

Saturday’s cancellation is the fourth within the past week for Maryland. The game against James Madison was scheduled in response to the cancellations of their Dec. 1 games against Monmouth and Towson.

The Terrapins, who are a perfect 4-0 on the season, routed Saint Peter’s 90-57, Friday afternoon. The game was originally scheduled to be against George Mason, who are also facing COVID-19 issues.

Maryland’s next scheduled game is Dec. 9 on the road against against Clemson as part of the ACC/Big Ten challenge.
