Fresh off his strong performance in Sunday’s preseason opener, Washington Wizards forward Rui Hachimura missed practice Tuesday with an eye issue. However, head coach Scott Brooks doesn’t think the issue is serious. Hachimura was held out of practice as precaution.
Anytime an issue involves the eye, it’s worth to follow regardless how minor. The Wizards have two more preseason games, both against the Detroit Pistons, before their first regular season game on Dec. 23.
Hachimura is entering his second season as a pro, looking to build off his solid rookie campaign. Against the Nets Sunday, he led the Wizards with 18 points on 7-of-18 shooting, including 3-of-4 from three.
His ability to shoot well from three is an encouraging sign. One of his biggest needs for improvement was his three-point shooting.
Last season he shot a subpar 28.7% from three. He’ll need to to improve behind the arc to stretch the defenses and create spacing for guards Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook.
