GW-UMass game postponed amid riots on Capitol Hill

Wednesday’s men’s college basketball game between George Washington and Massachusetts has been postponed amid the riots on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. Washington, DC’s mayor, Muriel Bowser, issued a city-wide curfew at 6pm, forcing officials to postpone the game.

A rally of supporters of President Donald Trump turned chaotic, leading to a mob storming through law enforcement and invading the Capitol halting the electoral vote. At least one person was shot according to multiple reports.

As for the game the Atlantic-10 will work to reschedule the conference game for a later date.

The next scheduled game for the GW Colonials (3-7, 2-1 in conference play) is Saturday at St. Bonaventure. UMass (2-3, 1-1) plays La Salle on Sunday in Amherst.
