Russell Westbrook suffers dislocated finger

Russell Westbrook said he suffered a dislocated finger in the Washington Wizards’ loss to the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night.

Westbrook was two rebounds shy of his fifth triple-double in six games with 20 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds. However, he suffered the finger injury late in the fourth quarter with 26 seconds remaining.

He added he was in pain and unsure if the injury would force him to miss any games. The Wizards play at the Boston Celtics Friday night before coming home to host the Miami the following night.

The plan is not to have Westbrook play in back-to-back games this season. Thus, skipping the Celtics to play against the Heat could be a possibility.

Westbrook is averaging a triple-double through six games with the Wizards with 20.5 points, 11.8 rebounds and 10.7 assists. Despite his impact in his first season in Washington, the team has struggled to win. The loss against the 76ers dropped the Wizards to a 2-6 record.
