Washington Wizards center Thomas Bryant left Saturday’s game against the Miami Heat with a left knee injury. The injury occurred last than two minutes into the game when Bryant’s left knee hyper-extended as he came down for a rebound.
Bryant fell to the floor holding his knee instantly, writhing in pain. He went eventually helped up to his feet by trainers and walked off gingerly without putting much weight on his injured leg.
The Wizards ruled out Bryant out for the remainder of the game.
Bryant has been off to a great start this season — his third with the Wizards. Through nine games, he averages a 15.9 points while shooting 64.8% from the field, including 42.9% from three — all career highs.
Bryant’s injury comes at unfortunate time. The Wizards are now without its three leading scorers. Bradley Beal, who leads the NBA with 35.0 points per game, was ruled out of Saturday’s game due to contact tracing exposure for COVID-19 to Jayson Tatum. Russell Westbrook missed the game as well due to an oblique injury.
