NBA postpones Wizards-Jazz game due to coronavirus protocols

The NBA postponed Wednesday’s game between the Washington Wizards and Utah Jazz. Two Wizards players — Rui Hachimura and Moritz Wagner — were placed in the league’s health and safety protocols due to contact tracing exposure. Washington canceled Tuesday’s practice as a result.

The league is doing contact tracing for the entire Wizards team, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic. The Wizards won’t play games until the review of the team is completed.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski adds Washington is dealing with more than the two players in contact tracing.

Washington’s next game after the Jazz is scheduled for Friday against the Detroit Pistons.

The Wizards-Jazz game adds to the multiple games already postponed by the league due to COVID-19 protocols. Wednesday’s game between the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic was postponed earlier Tuesday. It’s the Celtics’ third straight game to be postponed since multiple players were placed in the health and safety protocols, including Jayson Tatum who tested positive for the virus.

Wizards star Bradley Beal missed Saturday’s game against the Miami Heat due to contact tracing exposure to Tatum.
