Wizards resume individual workouts amid COVID-19 outbreak

The Washington Wizards were able to start bringing back select players for individual workouts at their practice facility, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic. The workouts began Saturday. The players eligible to return tested negative for COVID and cleared contract tracing protocols.

The Wizards shut down their practice facility on Tuesday after Rui Hachimura and Moe Wagner were placed in the NBA’s health and safety protocols. A total of six players tested positive for COVID-19. Three additional players are in the coronavirus protocol for contact tracing exposure.

The league postponed four straight games this week for the Wizards. The postponed games includes Sunday and Monday’s back-to-backs against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Washington’s next game is Wednesday Jan. 20 against the Orlando Magic. The status of that game remains unclear.
