Seventh Wizards player, one staff member test positive for COVID-19

The COVID-19 cases for the Washington Wizards continues to increase. According to Ava Wallace of the Washington Post, the Wizards have a seventh player and one staff member test positive for the coronavirus. No staff member had contracted the virus prior.

Washington has had five straight games postponed, including Wednesday’s slate against the Charlotte Hornets. The Wizards don’t have the NBA-required eight eligible players cleared to play in a game. However, the team has been able to hold individual workouts over the weekend with players not affected by the virus or in the league’s health and safety protocols.

There’s hope the Wizards, with six healthy players, could practice again as soon as Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Rui Hachimura and Moe Wagner have been the only players identified being in the coronavirus protocols. Since Washington hasn’t played a game since Jan. 11, the team hasn’t released an injury report so its unclear who has been affected by the outbreak.
