Wednesday’s game between the Washington Wizards and Charlotte Hornets has been postponed in accordance with the NBA’s health and safety protocols. The league announced due to the ongoing contact tracing, the Wizards do not have the league-required eight players available to play the game.
This marks the fifth straight Wizards’ game postponed due to their COVID-19 outbreak. Washington last played on Jan. 11 against the Phoenix Suns. Last Tuesday, the Wizards shut down their practice facility as Rui Hachimura and Moe Wagner were entered into the league’s coronavirus protocols.
Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard confirmed on Friday, Washington had six players test positive for the coronavirus. An additional three players remained in the protocol due to contact tracing exposure.
The team has allowed select players to conduct individual workouts since Saturday. Those players have tested negative for COVID-19.
With Wednesday’s postponement, the earliest the Wizards are back on the court is Jan. 22 at the Milwaukee Bucks.
