Not much has gone right for the Maryland Terrapins against the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor. The Terrapins fell behind big early and have struggled to claw back into the game. They’ve trailed by as many as 23. Thus, when Darryl Morsell didn’t draw a whistle after getting contact driving to the basket, the Maryland senior guard adamantly voiced his frustration.
A masked Morsell thought he was hit in the face as he drove to the lane for the driving layup. However, no foul was called. That prompted a livid reaction from him towards the officials.
His coach, Mark Turgeon, joined in and had to be held back by his assistants. Both Morsell and Turgeon were assessed technical fouls for the heated exchange.
Morsell is wearing the mask after suffering a fractured bone in his face in Maryland’s first meeting against Michigan on Dec. 31. Morsell was elbowed by Michigan forward Franz Wagner on a drive to the basket.
