Washington Capitals forward Jakub Vrana has been placed on the NHL’s COVID absence list, according to Samantha Pell of the Washington Post. Vrana becomes the fifth Capitals player to enter the coronavirus protocols this season
Alex Ovechkin and Dmitry Orlov spent 10 days in quarantine before being activated last week. Goalie Ilya Samsonov and forward Evgeny Kuznetsov remain on the COVID list where they have been since Jan. 20.
Vrana missed practice Saturday. It’s unclear if he was placed on the COVID list due to a positive test, showing symptoms or being deemed a close contact. The Capitals’ schedule remains unchanged, according to Pell.
This season, Vrana has three goals and five assists in 11 games. It’s unclear when he will be available to return.
