Ben Simmons claps back at Wizards announcer for ‘overrated’ comment

Philadelphia 76ers star guard Ben Simmons clapped back at Washington Wizards play-by-play announcer Justin Kutcher for his “overrated” comment.

““I’ve said it before and I know I’ll take flack for it,” Kutcher said during the Friday’s broadcast of the Wizards-Sixers game “… I think Ben Simmons is one of, if not the most, overrated players in the NBA. He’s gotten so much love and attention that people are not paying attention to what Tobias Harris is actually doing on the floor.”

Simmons, who did not play in the game due to COVID-19 protocols, responded in a major way. First, he dug deep on Instagram and found a 2018 post of Kutcher in a bathrobe. Simmons shared the image and labeled Kutcher as “Another Casual.”

Afterwards, Simmons added Kutcher is “just a 5’5″ commentator.”

Simmons is widely-considered the frontrunner for NBA Defensive Player of the Year. He returned to floor Sunday after clearing COVID-19 protocols. He had 14 points, nine assists and four rebounds in 26 minutes of the 76ers’ 134-99 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

Ben Simmons is averaging 16.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists on the season.

Still, Kutcher isn’t back down from his assessment of Simmons. In fact, Kutcher took to Twitter to double down on Simmons being “overrated.”

Kutcher is putting up the best fight from the Wizards towards the 76ers. Philadelphia swept Washington 3-0 during the season series.
