Washington Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg says there is “nothing major” behind a calf injury that forced him to exit Sunday’s Spring Training start early. Strasburg stumbled after throwing a pitch in the third inning. After the being looked at, Strasburg exited the game throwing 45 pitches.
Strasburg said his left calf “grabbed me a little bit” but after being checked by doctors discovered it was “nothing major,” according to Jesse Doughtery of The Washington Post.
“It’s not something that’s going to require any sort long-term recovery. It’s definitely good news. So day-to-day,” Strasburg added.
Better to take precaution than push it in a Spring Training game. The 2019 World Series MVP said he “100 percent” would have continued if the game was important.
Last year, Stephen Strasburg had his season cut short due to a nerve issue, carpal tunnel neuritis, his pitching hand. He underwent surgery as he experienced numbness throughout his hand.
