It’s certain Terry McLaurin approves of the Washington Football Team’s signing of fellow wide receiver Curtis Samuel. McLaurin took to Twitter after the news broke of Samuel’s deal.
McLaurin and Samuel were teammates in college at Ohio State. The two were part of the Buckeyes’ 2014 recruiting class. McLaurin also shared how he and Samuel talked about one day playing together in the NFL while together in Columbus.
Their paths were quite different. Samuel played right away at Ohio State at various spots within the offense, running back and wide receiver. He amassed 1,286 rushing yards while having 107 catches for 1,249 receiving yards and 24 total touchdowns from 2014-2016.
With a plethora of NFL-caliber wide receivers at Ohio State, McLaurin got a later start. He didn’t start to get routine snaps until 2016. Nonetheless, the two still made it to the NFL.
Curtis Samuel was a second-round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2017. He spent four seasons there, recording 185 catches for 2,087 yards and 14 touchdowns as a wide receiver. He signed a three-year, $34.5 million deal with Washington this offseason.
Meanwhile, Terry McLaurin, a third-round pick in 2019, has 145 catches for 2,037 yards and 11 touchdowns in two seasons. Now the two will get to be a dynamic duo together as pros.
