Washington Wizards star guard Bradley Beal has been ruled out Monday’s game against the Indiana Pacers with a hip contusion, the team announced.
Beal bruised his hip in Saturday’s win against the Detroit Pistons taking a nasty fall after colliding with Saben Lee near the end of the first half. Beal gave it go remaining in the game but left the game three minutes into the third quarter.
This will be Beal’s fourth missed game of the season. Entering Monday, Beal leads the NBA in scoring averaging 31.3 points per game to go along with 5.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.2 steals.
Jerome Robinson will start in his place. Robinson has appeared in 14 games, including three starts this season. However, Garrison Mathews is expected to see an increase in minutes.
Additionally, head coach Scott Brooks announced newly acquired wing player Chandler Hutchison will make his Wizards debut against the Pacers. He is expected to play 16-20 minutes. Hutchison, formerly of the Chicago Bulls, hasn’t played in a game since Feb. 5 due to personal reasons.
