Russell Westbrook called game when he hit a dagger to seal the Washington Wizards’ 125-121 win over the Utah Jazz. The stunning win snapped Utah’s 24-game home win streak in the process.
Leading 119-115, Westbrook pulled-up over Royce O’Neele to drain the elbow jumper with 32.1 seconds remaining. After the dagger, Westbrook yelled “That’s game!” for his opponents and teammates to hear.
He finished the game with 25 points, 14 rebounds and 14 assists for his 23rd triple-double of the season. Bradley Beal, the league’s leading scorer, added a team-high 34 points and five assists. Utah was led by Donovan Mitchell’s game-high 42 points in the losing effort.
An ultimate competitor, Westbrook was so locked in he was unaware of the Jazz’s impressive win streak at home.
The win also gave the Wizards (20-33) the season series sweep of the Jazz, who own the league’s best record at 40-14.
