Bradley Beal is no longer the NBA’s scoring leader. That honor momentarily belongs to Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry.
Curry overtook Beal for the league’s top scorer with his 49-point performance Monday night against the Philadelphia 76ers. The two-time MVP has now scored at least 30 points in 11 straight games.
Beal has led the league in scoring for much of the 2020-21 season. He entered the All-Star break averaging 32.9 points. However, he cooled off after the break, per say. That’s even though the Washington Wizards star has a streak of five straight with at least 30 points. He scored exactly 30 points in Monday’s win over Oklahoma City.
Meanwhile, Curry has been on a tear dropping buckets at an unreal rate. Now, Curry leads the league with 31.4 points per game. Beal is now at 31.1. Curry also leads the league in total points this season with 1570.
The timing of the changing of the guards is intriguing. Curry and the Wizards are slated to visit Beal and the Wizards Wednesday. Both are trying to lead their teams to position for the play-in series in their respective conferences. But both players would love to grab a scoring title in the process.
