Former standout running back Derrius Guice is being banned indefinitely from LSU. As part of his ban, Guice’s name is being removed from the school’s record books.
According to ESPN’s Heather Dinch, the school’s ban comes as part of sweeping changes across the LSU football program after findings of a systematic failure by the program to appropriately report incidents of athletic-related sexual misconduct and abuse.
The school is also cutting ties with the law firm Taylor Porter, who has served the school for 80 years.
Two women accused Guice of sexual assault while the running back was at LSU. A third alleges he took a partially nude photo without consent and shared it with his football teammates.
Guice played at LSU from 2015 to 2017, rushing for 3,074 yards during his three seasons with the TIgers. He also holds the school’s single-game rushing record with 285 yards.
The Washington Football Team selected Guice in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. However, multiple knee injuries limited him to five games in the two seasons with Washington. He rushed for 245 yards and two touchdowns. He has remained an NFL free agent since his release.
Washington released Guice in August 2000 after the running back was arrested on felony domestic violence charges. Two weeks later, the two women came forward with rape allegations against Guice.
According to USA Today, the women previously reported the alleged sexual assaults to several members of the LSU athletic department, including at least two coaches, an administrator and a school nurse.
A 74-year old woman has also accused Guice of sexual harassment stemming from an incident at a 2017 high school game at New Orleans’ Superdome.
