The Washington Capitals are on the brink of elimination from the NHL playoffs after the Boston Bruins dominated them in Game 4 Friday night. Boston beat up on the Capitals for much of the night in tune to a 4-1 win.
One moment signified how rough the evening was for Washington when captain Alex Ovechkin took the brunt of two hits from a pair of Bruins nemesis.
As Ovechkin wound up his stick for a shot, David Pastrnak leveled the 35-year old knocking him to his knee. Just as he got to his skates, Brad Marchand hit Ovechkin from behind.
Ovechkin wasn’t the only Capitals player to get knocked around. Washington just wasn’t themselves and lacked aggression from the opening face-off.
There were a couple of signs of life for Washington. That included Ovechkin giving a boom hit on Marchand.
However, in the end, Ovechkin and the Capitals fell flat one way or another. Boston now leads the series 3-1 in their best-of-seven series with Game 5 Sunday in Washington. Ovechkin and the Capitals will have to get back on their feet soon as they’re one loss away from their season being over.
