Wednesday’s game between the Washington Nationals and Cincinnati Reds was halted by a series of isolated thunderstorms that swept through Washington. The game sat in a rain delay that lasted 3 hours and 4 minutes before the team officially suspended play.
Some fans sat through the rain delay waiting for any indication play would resume. Meanwhile, the Reds left Nationals Park on the team bus and headed back to their hotel.
One fan decided to entertain the restless patrons, by streaking through the field completely nude.
Usually fans running on the field is cringeworthy and dangerous. However, the players weren’t on the field, and the scene was more hilarious than anything else.
The streaker used the stadium’s rain tarp as a Slip-N-Slide, sliding all over the tarp in the pouring rain. At one point he crawled into a roller to evade two police officers. The officers were befuddled for a split moment. Then the streaker made his way out right into handcuffs from the officers.
Surely, running on the field shouldn’t be condone. Yet, this instance proved to be legendary and one moment that will be referenced for quite some time for Nationals fans.
