Yet, Snyder has relinquished control of day-to-day operations of the team to his wife Tanya Snyder, who was named co-CEO two days prior.
Dan Snyder will instead focus on new stadium plans and “other matters.” The league says the move was voluntary. However, the latest development of the situation may suggest otherwise.
According to Mark Maske of the Washington Post, Dan Snyder cannot resume control of the team without approval from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Snyder will be allowed to attend team games and be able to seek new investors in the team in the arrangement.
Tanya Snyder, the wife of Dan, was promoted to co-CEO on Tuesday. Immediately, speculation among people close to the situation suggested her promotion was to provide “ownership continuity” in the event Dan Snyder was suspended by the league.
