The lawyer of Dan Snyder refutes a Washington Post report that the Washington Football Team owner cannot regain control of the team without the approval of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
“Any suggestion that Commissioner Goodell must approve Dan Snyder’s return to daily control is false,” Jordan Siev said in a statement to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “Dan was not suspended, so by definition he does not need to be reinstated to any position.”
Snyder’s wife Tanya Snyder has taken over day-to-day operations of the team and will represent it in league meetings. The switch is a result of an investigation led by attorney Beth Wilkinson into Washington’s toxic workplace culture following a number of sexual harassment accusations against the team. Meanwhile, Dan Snyder will focus on a new stadium and “other matters.”
The NFL insists Dan Snyder was not suspended. However, Mark Maske of the Washington Post reported Snyder cannot assume control of the team without the approval of Goodell.
Despite, the refute from Snyder’s lawyer, the Post is standing by their report. Mike Florio of the Pro Football Talk said the league did not reply to his multiple requests for comments on whether Snyder needs Goodell’s approval to return or not.
