Report: Bradley Beal placed in health and safety protocols at Team USA camp

Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal has entered Team USA’s health and safety protocols, according to Shams Charania of the Athletic. His return to the team set for Tokyo Olympics is “up in the air.”

Team USA is set to play their first game in 11 days during the Olympics. Beal started each of Team USA’s first three exhibition games.

Beal was limited to two points on 1-of-7 shooting in 25 minutes in the stunning 90-87 loss to Nigeria. He scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting in a 91-83 loss to Australia. He led Team USA with 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting in the 108-80 win over Argentina.

Team USA is scheduled to play two more exhibition games before heading to Japan for the Olympics. His absence will make the national team even more thinner at guard.

Team USA is without Milwaukee Bucks guard Jrue Holiday and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker, who are both playing in the NBA Finals. The two are expected to join Team USA once the Finals are complete. If the series in which the Suns lead 2-1 goes the distance, Game 7 is slated for July 22 three days prior to Team USA’s opening game.
