Jonathan Allen is day-to-day with hamstring injury

The Washington Football Team is dealing with a hampering shortage at defensive tackle. As Week 2 of training camp began, Daron Payne and Matt Ioannidis are out while in COVID-19 protocols. Now, Jonathan Allen is hampered by a hamstring injury.

Allen is day-to-day, head coach Ron Rivera said per Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic.

Allen did not participate in team drills. Instead, he was on the side field with traininers, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.

Tim Settle and Devaroe Lawrence filled in with the first team at defensive tackle.

Allen, Payne and Ioannidis are the top three defensive tackles on the team. Being without all three going into the second week of training camp is concerning. It’s not the regular season, but it has to be annoying for Washington’s coaching staff.

Last week, Allen signed a four-year, $72 million extension that keeps him under contract with Washington through the 2025 season.
