The first 10 players of the NFL’s Top 100 included All-Pro guard Brandon Scherff of the Washington Football Team. The NFL’s Top 100 players list premiered Sunday on the NFL Network.
Scherff was the third name revealed at No. 98. Last year, no Washington player made the list.

Scherff is the first Washington player not named Trent Williams to make the list since 2017. In 2020, he played in 13 games. Playing on 857 offensive snaps, Scherff drew just two penalties and allowed a mere three sacks.
He was rated fourth in the league among offensive guards, according to analytical website Pro Football Focus. However, the NFL’s Top 100 is voted by players around the league. Being considered one of the elite out by his peers is a considerable honor.
Since being the fifth overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Scherff has been a stalwart along Washington’s offensive line. He has started 78 games during his career and been voted to Pro Bowl four times.
Brandon Scherff will be playing on his second straight franchise tag this season. He’ll earn a guaranteed $18.04 million. But is slated to become a free agent after the season, as it’s unlikely Washington would place a third straight tag on the 29-year old.
A third franchise tag may cost Washington close to $26 million in 2022.
Despite the odds being stacked against a long-term deal, Scherff maintains he wants to remain with Washington and is “very confident” a deal can be worked out.
