Taylor Heinicke practiced with padded sleeve for bruised leg from Week 1

The Washington Football Team got back to practice Tuesday in preparation for their first road game of the season, at Buffalo Sunday. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke wore a padded sleeve over his lower right leg, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post

Heinicke explained he was a “little banged up” in Week 1. He was hit with a leg whip against the Los Angeles Chargers, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports. Heinicke was quick to say it was nothing serious. The ailment didn’t bother him much last Thursday night against the New York Giants.

Heinicke completed 34-of-46 passes for 336 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Washington’s 30-29 thrilling win over the Giants.

Placed into the starting quarterback role last week following Ryan Fitzpatrick’s hip injury, Taylor Heinicke has a great opportunity to solidify his status as a starting quarterback in the NFL.

Despite entering the NFL in 2015, Heinicke will be making just his third regular season start — fourth including the playoffs. After his back and forth pro journey. Being a little banged up is not going to hold him out of the lineup.
