He’s only had three NFL starts, but Washington Football Team quarterback Taylor Heinicke is beloved by most Washington fans. He is getting the opportunity to prove he can be a long-term fix at quarterback.
Since his heroic efforts in Washington’s playoff loss to Tampa Bay last January, there has been traction of Heinicke getting an endorsement deal with the alcoholic beverage company Heineken, which has a similar pronunciation as the QB’s name.
Heinicke picked up his first NFL win as a starter Thursday night against the New York Giants. Washington had some extra time off not playing Sunday. Heinicke enjoyed the free weekend watching college football and the NFL while downing “a couple” of Heinekens.
When asked about landing an endorsement deal with Heineken, Heinicke admitted “I’m trying.”
Heinicke said following the playoff loss to the Buccaneers, Heineken reached out to his agent.
Heinicke said Heineken told his agent it shipped a 24-pack to his house but he never got it. Then the company said it couldn’t ship to his house, and Heinicke noted there’s a gas station about a mile away stocked with Heineken.

While Heineken has seemingly dismissed the natural partnership, Heinicke said he may have to shift his focus to Bud Light. That prompted Bud Light to give a quick response.
Bud Light was a sponsor of the most rendition of the XFL, where Heinicke played with the St. Louis Battlehawks. The beers were handed out to the winning team of each game along with a $4,000 bonus. Heinicke had fun chugging a couple down in celebration of a win.
While it doesn’t have the same name ring, it would make sense for a Bud Light, Heinicke connection. Maybe the commercial can reenact his locker room chug?
