Washington places head trainer on leave after team facility raided by feds

Federal investigators executed a search warrant at the Washington Football Team’s training facility in Loudon County, Virginia and a nearby home, according to Grant Paulsen and JP Finlay of 106.7 the Fan and NBC4’s Julie Carey.

Washington placed head athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion on administrative leave, according to a team statement.

The searches were conducted on Friday. Vermillion did not travel with the football team this weekend to Atlanta for their game Sunday against the Falcons. His duties were split among the training staff.

Vermillion is in his second season with Washington. He previously spent 18 seasons with the Carolina Panthers, working most of those year with current Washington head coach Ron Rivera.
