Jackson Mahomes, the brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes seems to be trending every week for all the wrong reasons. Sunday, he lent himself to be the ire of many Washington Football Team fans.
Mahomes posted a TikTok video of himself dancing on the No. 21 painted memorial on the sidelines, honoring Washington’s late legendary safety Sean Taylor.
Taylor was killed in 2007 by intruders at his home during a robbery. Taylor has been revered by Washington fans for his impact on the franchise before his untimely death.
Washington honored Taylor on Sunday, formally dedicating the road leading into the stadium as Sean Taylor Road. The team also retired his No. 21 jersey at halftime of the game against the Chiefs.
Taylor’s family, including his daughter Jackie, who was just an infant when her father was killed, was in attendance to take in the festivities.
As anyone who receives backlash for doing or saying anything inappropriate and distasteful, Mahomes issued an apology on Twitter for dancing on the No. 21.
It’s interesting that any stadium officials would direct someone outside of the family to stand on the marker. But that surely doesn’t condone Mahomes dancing on it, regardless of intent.
There may be a great deal of Washington and Taylor fans who still are upset about the entire ordeal.
