Washington Football Team quarterback Taylor Heinicke will undergo an MRI Monday on his injured knee, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Heinicke exited Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys early in the fourth quarter. He was injured on a Neville Gallimore sack. Kyle Allen finished the game at quarterback for Washington.
Heinicke’s day ended with him completing 11-of-25 passes for 122 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Following the 27-20 loss, Washington head coach Ron Rivera said Heinicke’s injury doesn’t look that bad. But an evaluation was needed.
Heinicke also sounded optimistic. The QB told reporters his knee was “fine” and he should be ready for Washington’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles next week.
Of course with all injuries it’s safe to get a confirmation from an MRI. Teams, especially Washington, aren’t fully transparent with players’ injuries. The fact Heinicke will require an examination still can create some concern until those worries are officially vanished.
