The Washington Football Team added four additional players to the reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday, including defensive tackle Jonathan Allen.
Linebacker David Mayo and practice squad players defensive end William Bradley-King and tight end Temarrick Hemingway also landed on the COVID-19 list.
Washington now has nine players on the COVID-19 list. Monday’s group joins defensive ends Montez Sweat, James Smith-Williams, Casey Toohill, linebacker Khaleke Hudson and cornerback Darryl Roberts.
Of the latest to be added Allen is the biggest name and could be the biggest blow. Allen is reportedly vaccinated, according to NBC Sports Washington’s JP Finlay. That means Allen would need to have no symptoms and two negative COVID-19 tests 24 hours apart to rejoin the team.
Washington lost to the Dallas Cowboys 27-20 on Sunday. The loss dropped Washington to 6-7 ahead of their pivotal divisional game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are also 6-7. Washington currently holds the tie-breaker over the Eagles and three other teams for the seventh and final playoff spot in the NFC.
Washington is already thin on the defensive line due to COVID-19. Bradley-King was actually called up for the Cowboys game as a COVID-19 replacement. The team now has only three defensive ends active.
