Further testing has revealed Washington Football Team tight end Logan Thomas indeed tore his ACL, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Washington initially feared Thomas tore his ACL. However, the initial MRI did not detect a tear, but he was put on season-ending injured reserve with a significant knee injury.
Thomas is expected to undergo surgery to repair his ACL this week. He’ll be expected to return in time for the 2022 season.
Even with that timeline it will be interesting to see his recovery and availability with training camp, and preseason given the injury occurred in December.
Thomas was hurt on a low hit from Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Yannick Ngakoue.
Logan Thomas emerged as the primary tight end in Washington in 2020 with a career-high 72 catches, 670 yards and six touchdowns. This season, a hamstring injury and now a torn ACL limited him six games, 18 catches, 196 yards and three touchdowns.
